Bite firmly on the gauze pack placed after the extraction and remove it after half an hour. Once the gauze is out, do not rinse your mouth, put a finger in the socket, or spit for two days.
Avoid hot and spicy food for two days after the extraction. No smoking and no alcohol.
If bleeding continues, hold cold ice water in your mouth and spit it out gently. Do not rinse or swill.
If bleeding carries on for a long time, or if pain develops, contact the dentist immediately.
General dental care
If you notice a hole or a change of colour on a tooth, see a dentist immediately. Filling becomes much harder once the pain has started.
Bad breath and bleeding from the gums need attention and treatment straight away.
If the front teeth stick out, they can be corrected with a clip or brace.
A check-up once every six months is essential. If you are diabetic, have a check-up once every four months.
