What teeth cleaning & scaling involves

Scaling removes the hardened tartar that brushing cannot shift, and root planing smooths the root surfaces below the gumline. It is the single most effective treatment for bleeding gums and bad breath, and the simplest way to avoid losing teeth later.

How the treatment goes

  1. Gum examinationWe measure gum health and check for pockets around the teeth.
  2. Ultrasonic scalingTartar above and below the gumline is broken away.
  3. Root planingRoot surfaces are smoothed so bacteria cannot re-attach easily.
  4. PolishingTeeth are polished to remove surface stain.

Aftercare

After your teeth cleaning & scaling

  • Mild sensitivity for two to three days is normal and settles on its own.
  • Brush twice daily and clean between the teeth every day.
  • Bad breath and bleeding gums need attention immediately — do not wait.
  • Repeat scaling every six months; every four months if you are diabetic.

If pain or bleeding gets worse rather than better, call +91 94879 39179 straight away — do not wait for the next appointment.

Questions

Teeth Cleaning & Scaling — your questions answered

Does scaling loosen or damage teeth?
No — this is the most common myth about cleaning. Scaling removes tartar, it does not remove tooth. Teeth can feel slightly loose or sensitive for a few days simply because the hardened deposit that was wedged between them is gone; the gums then tighten back.
How often should I get my teeth cleaned?
Once every six months for most people. If you are diabetic, we recommend every four months, because gum disease progresses faster and heals slower with high blood sugar.
Will scaling make my teeth white?
Scaling removes tartar and surface staining, so teeth look noticeably cleaner and closer to their natural shade. To go lighter than your natural shade you need whitening, which is a separate treatment.
My gums bleed — should I stop brushing?
No, the opposite. Bleeding is a sign of inflammation from plaque, and stopping brushing makes it worse. Keep brushing gently and book a scaling appointment.
