What filling & restoration involves

A filling cleans out decay and rebuilds the tooth with tooth-coloured composite that bonds to the natural surface. Caught early, a cavity is a twenty-minute appointment. Left until it hurts, the same tooth usually needs a root canal.

How the treatment goes

  1. Decay assessmentWe check how deep the cavity goes and whether the nerve is involved.
  2. Cleaning the cavityAll softened, decayed tooth is removed.
  3. Layered restorationTooth-coloured composite is bonded in and cured layer by layer.
  4. Shaping and polishThe filling is shaped to your bite and polished smooth.

Aftercare

After your filling & restoration

  • Roughness or discolouration on a tooth needs a dentist immediately — filling gets much harder once pain starts.
  • You can eat normally within an hour of a composite filling.
  • Some cold sensitivity for a few days is normal.
  • If the bite feels high or uneven, come back — it takes two minutes to adjust.

If pain or bleeding gets worse rather than better, call +91 94879 39179 straight away — do not wait for the next appointment.

Questions

Filling & Restoration — your questions answered

How long does a dental filling last?
A well-placed composite filling lasts five to ten years or more. Lifespan depends on the size of the filling, your bite and how well you clean around it.
Will the filling match my tooth colour?
Yes. We use tooth-coloured composite shaded to match your natural tooth, so fillings are invisible even on front teeth.
Can a cavity be reversed without a filling?
Only the very earliest white-spot stage can be remineralised with fluoride. Once the surface has broken and formed a hole, it cannot heal itself and needs a filling.
Why fill a tooth that does not hurt?
Because that is the ideal time. A cavity that does not hurt has not reached the nerve yet, so a simple filling fixes it. Waiting for pain usually means waiting for a root canal.
